Franchised minimarket from open competition perspectives
It’s been many news recenty about franchised minimarket being closed up by the local government. The reason is they have no license which seems a bit odd. There are plenty similar shops (non franchise) which I strongly believe have no licenses either. They has been operating in years without any problems.
Futhermore, from my experience, I can’t propose a license if I don’t have the actual shop. So in other word, I have to open the shop before applying the license. Again I strongly believe, since they are franchised minimarket which have so many branches around Indonesia, they know these licenses requirement better than anyone else in the business.
I am sure it’s not about the licenses. In fact, similar businesses in the area of minimarket scare they will get broke. Well it’s kinda true also. This issues have been propagated by someone for some reasons. Let’s leave them for now.
Let’s look at which will benefit more. Open competition always give lots benefit to end consumer. One good example is what happen in telecommunication market. Since Indonesia let others to compete with the only one company telkom, we have cheaper deal, good customer services and good quality of the products. More companies mean more jobs and more taxes. If we look at PLN, expensive, no customer services, quality? You bet! But now since Mr. Dahlan came in, it feels that they are on the right track. I’m one of his fans. Let’s us pray and hope!
Radius affecting by the minimarket won’t be so far since shopping in minimarket is not entertaining. In most cases, people know what they wanna buy before entering the shop and get out as soon as they find what they’re looking for. So let’s say 2 km radius. Outside this radius will find other minimarkets or shops to shop. So how many people do you thing will suffer? I don’t think it will be many. May be 2 similar shops within this radius. How many people will get the benefit? Plenty!
People around will get the benefit from the cheaper price and other promotions, shows, etc. Government will get more taxes especially the 10% PPN, VAT or GST. Mostly similar shops don’t pay this tax. And this tax should benefit more people somehow. Staff which normally local people get better training and opportunities to improve their career such as supervisor, store manager, area manager and so on.
So so so.. More advantages than the disadvantages right? Let’s the market be free and open.. It will benefit more in the LONG RUN.. One more thing, please KICK that someone arse

Beware of phone scam sht in Indonesia
I’ve nearly been a victim of phone scam JUST NOW. fak!. Nearly twice this single month. These thief are around and doing their phone scamming more and more often.
First attempt was when I wanted to sell my car. I put advertisements on some papers. I put on saturday and sunday. And then the next saturday sunday. I think in my second or third week of advertisements this guy texted me saying that he was from the newspaper company named Bali Post and a doctor from Jakarta interested in buying the car and asked me to call that doctor.
So I called the doctor. The doctor said he would be in Bali in the next 2 weeks and needed to settle some things as well as car. He did some negotiations with the price. Everything seemed so right until he said he was going to transfer me a 5 million deposit without even looked at the car. I started to wonder. But what the hack, I gave him my bank account number.
An hour later, he called me and told me that he transfered the deposit and asked me to check. I checked using internet banking.. nothing. He insisted me to go to ATM machine to made a complain together. He was worried about his money being lost. This time I knew that this was a fakn scam. A friend of mine was a victim of this ATM phone scam. He was told to press some numbers in the ATM which later he found out that his money gone being transfered to someone.
The second scam which just happened this morning. A guy called me yesterday to made an order of some plywoods. FYI: I am selling building materials. He asked to delivered the order tomorrow and he was ready to made some deposits. Same story repeated.
Some says when you go to ATM, you’ll somehow follow his instruction. It’s like being hypnotized. Really? I’d love to try some times. But I need to move my money to my wife account before that. Just in case I’m hypnotized. kakaka.
Bounty Club Discotheque – Foam Party – Muscle Man
Every friday and saturday night Bounty Discotheque performs a special show. Muscle men, break dance, fashion show are some of them. They also has a special party.. FORM PARTY.. I was too damn late to take the form party picture.. there was only one man left in the form box .. Next time I’ll take a better shoot..
Bounty is a really typical balinese discotheque: no aircon, a lot of light, open air, hip hop disco, most people drunk, wet wet wet, famous arak cocktail and beers. But this is why you go to Bali for! Every night this place is packed except in raining night.
Bounty club is right behind Paddy’s Club. There are 2 bars in the entrace walk featuring live rock band. Guests are allowed to sing on the stage. Sometimes I heard the guest was a lot better than the singer.
Bounty itself is a two floor disco. First floor is where the foam box is. It’s a closed air space. There are seldom any people here of course except when the foam party started. The second floor is the open air disco. It’s packed every night. This is where the performances are.
For Indonesian, we have to pay 50.000 beer fee for the entrace. For foreigner is free. If you are Indonesian but you look like Japs super star, you can pretend that you are foreigner. Just be sure to wear your bikinis 🙂 *joking*
This place is really happening. I really love their drunken crowd!. I really recommend you guys to go to this place.

Night of Christmas 2009 at Paddys Cafe – Legian Bali
Paddys Cafe (maps: -8.718295,115.174956) is always my favourite destination for every night gigs. I went to Bounty behind Paddys Cafe at around 12.00 AM. It was empty. This is the first time I went to Bounty and empty. Only very few people inside. I guess the rain might be the reason, or all went to church? hmm..
I were there till about 1.30 AM and the crowd started to come. I got those Bounty Specialty Cocktail with Arak Attack (Traditional Balinese Alcohol). You’ll feel something after the third “big glass”. It only costs Rp. 50.000,- per big glass. Not even $6.
I decided to go to Paddys Cafe after feeling a bit drunk. Maybe because the place is smaller than bounty, it looked a lot more fun at paddys that night.
The most I like about paddys is everyone was DRUNK!
If you are in Bali, you should go to this place. The one and only in Indonesia. It’s a real Balinese typical disco. There is no aircon and mostly about 99% are drunk oz. OZ OZ OZ. I luv OZ!
Rock Bar @ Ayana Hotel (ex Ritz Carlton)
Another great great Bar or cafe in Bali. Rock Bar is located on the cliff of South Bali with a very very nice view of sunset, cliff, rock and ocean. Google Maps -8.783042,115.141439.
To get to this bar, you have to go to Ayana Hotel (ex Ritz Carlton Hotel) then get in to the hotel and just to straight to the cliff area, where the wedding chapel is. Then you have to get lift to go to the bar.
damn nice isn’t it.. the one and only in Bali..
This food costs around Rp. 300.000,-
They open until 1 AM. I’d like to spend one evening there sometime. It will be great!
Warung Eropa – Balinese Food in Peti Tenget Kerobokan Bali
It’s quite hard to find a nice balinese food around Kuta area. But Warung Eropa surely give you nice balinese type of foods. Warung Eropa means European Restaurant. But their European food is ok only, I like their balinese food better. I think they should change their name to something more Bali.
The place is alright.. Balinese style restaurant with no aircon but cool enough since large rice fields around the place. Car park is ok. The area is not crowded. The food, I like the Deep Fried Duck package with urap2 vegetables and rice. Yummy! It’s better with the one in Ubud I would say.
Balinese taste is the same taste you get in every balinese food. It’s like Indian food. There is this taste that always there. Mostly this taste is changed so it’ll be more universal accepted. Not all people like this taste. More than half of my overseas and other cities friends don’t like the taste. It’s why you find it hard to find this balinese taste around tourist area.
Dont forget to try their desert too. Chocolate cake with vanila ice cream. I can’t remember the name, but I’m sure it’s not brownies. It’s really nice, the chocolate melt in my mouth.

Lemon Grass – A True Thai Cuisine in Seminyak Bali
Just had a really nice dinner yesterday at Lemon Grass. The place is really nice. It’s cool and clean. They just don’t have parking space, or vallet parking. But if you go by motor bike, it wouldn’t be a problem.
I had tom yum soup, gaiyang (bbq chicken) and pad thai (thai noddle). They’re all really really nice. It’s a bit different with the one in Black Canyon or Thai Express around Kartika Plaza Street. They were tasted more like the food I was tasted in Phuket. hmm.. I love Phuket Btw hmm..
Just info: don’t expect to see thai people here

Puncak Bagus : Other View of Bali
Bali is famous of its beaches. Kuta beach is among one of the best beach in the world. White soft sands, long beach, nice waves, sunset.. just perfect!
But don’t forget, Bali doesn’t only have beaches. Bali has four lakes and four of them in the high area near mountains and hills. Nice cool weather. There is this one place, oftenly called Puncak Bagus. Actually Puncak Bagus is the name of the cafe in the area. The area itself is called Munduk.
In this place you could see two lakes: Buyan and Tamblingan with mountains and hills background. Just perfect! You have to go in the day time. Don’t get too late in the afternoon, it’s mostly got foggy. You hardly see a thing when it’s foggy.
